Anglicare’s values of justice, integrity and respect underpin our approach to the recruitment of employees, volunteers and carers. Recruitment decisions are made on the basis of values, merit and service requirements.
Our values require us to be honest. We will not encourage you to apply for a position for which you are unsuited and your application will not progress to interview or referee checks if you have no chance of success. Unlawful discrimination is contrary to our values.
Anglicare prefers to contact applicants by email.
Criteria
Anglicare recruits to a position profile identifying key requirements for skills, qualifications, experience and behaviours. You should carefully check your eligibility against the position profile.
You may be required to submit responses to selection criteria or provide other information but wherever practicable Anglicare recruits on the basis of the application form, interview and referee checks.
Advertising
Full-time and part-time employment vacancies in Anglicare are advertised and open to internal and external applicants unless an exemption is granted by a member of the Anglicare Executive.
Exemptions are granted in limited circumstances such as where the position is for a fixed term of up to twelve months or where employment is to be offered to a volunteer, carer, casual employee or fixed-term employee with more than six months satisfactory service.
An exemption may also be granted in order to engage a person assessed by a Selection Panel as suitable for employment by Anglicare within the previous six months.
Application Form
You must provide a completed application form in order to be considered for work with Anglicare.
The application form must be lodged in relation to an advertised vacancy. Application forms are sent to the contact person identified in the position profile.
Assessment
Your application will be assessed by a Selection Panel constituted by two Anglicare employees with skills and experience relevant to the position requirements.
The Selection Panel may be assisted by non-employees such as volunteers, carers, clients or representatives of peak groups or funding bodies.
The Selection Panel will inform you if you are required to submit responses to selection criteria or provide any other information.
The Selection Panel determines whether your application will be short-listed for interview and referee checks.
Interview
The Selection Panel will interview the short-listed applicant or applicants. We recognise that interview performance is a poor indicator of overall job suitability and primarily use interviews to assess:
Suitability against the behaviours identified in the position profile;
Punctuality;
Manner;
Presentation; and
Verbal communication skills
Please mention to the Selection Panel if you struggle with interviews and reasonable efforts will be made to make things comfortable for you.
Referee Checks
The application form requires you to disclose names and contact details for your referees.
The Selection Panel uses referee checks to confirm key aspects of your suitability for the position. Your referees will also be asked to comment on your ability to:
Work safely;
Resolve conflict;
Promote workplace diversity; and
Demonstrate the behaviours identified in the position profile.
Outcome
The Selection Panel will advise you whether your application has been successful or unsuccessful. This normally occurs via email.
A member of the Selection Panel will be available to provide feedback in the event that your application is unsuccessful.
Conflicts of Interest
Under no circumstances will a Selection Panel assess an application from a person who has a family or personal relationship with a member of the Selection Panel.
In such circumstances, the application will be declined or the membership of the Selection Panel changed.
Any complaints or concerns about recruitment processes at Anglicare may be referred to the Director, People and Culture.
