Wanted: Foster Carers

Child-protection system faces critical shortage

Canberrans are urged to consider becoming foster carers for young people to help ease a severe national shortage. The call comes after the body of a toddler was found in a suitcase in a pond in Sydney's south-west a fortnight ago. The incident outraged talkback callers, who pointed the finger at the NSW Department of Community Services for failing to act on the boy's case.
